MORE
My name is Suzanne McKenna

Hello!

I am a trauma-informed therapist and I utilize Internal Family Systems, Attachment Theory, and Mindfulness practices, in order to help my clients change and grow.

I strive to foster a safe, nurturing, and non-judgmental environment for my clients to explore their unique lives, inclusive of births and deaths and joys and wounds. I believe that change can occur when clients feel truly accepted. In our culture, we receive many messages that we are not good enough or are not doing it “right,” and this can lead to problems with self-esteem, anxiety, shame, and depression.

MY SERVICES

Internal Family Systems
Informed Therapy

Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS) is a non-pathologizing approach to understanding our mental health. The theory states that we all are made up of multiple parts of ourselves and that these parts make sense based on the history each client has lived through. By using IFS, I can help clients understand these parts of themselves better and personal healing can begin.

Therapy For Mothers

Many women suffer from feelings of overwhelm, anxiety and depression, after giving birth. The expectations of parenting perfectly that gets in the way. Our patriarchal culture is also not offering moms the support they need and deserve. I want to be a part of the support system to help these moms in their transition to motherhood.

Parenting Support

Parenthood is a big transition that needs continual, loving support. What we don't need is judgment, criticism, expectations for doing it perfectly, or being rushed back into the work environment. I'm here to support you and/or your partner on this sacred journey.

Therapy For Men

I help men explore areas where they feel hurt and misunderstood, so they can better understand themselves and learn to communicate in a healthy way. They gain a deeper understanding of themselves and are better able to communicate with their partner and deepen connection with them.

Couples Counseling

If you feel that you and your partner get into the same, predictable arguments all the time and can’t seem to find a way back to each other, I am here to help you get back into the connection that you both seek.
